Day 1: Silly Tania

I am submitting my first post from the WorldClub in Detroit. Why do I have time to blog in Detroit, you ask? Because I was so positive I knew the times for my flights that I never rechecked my itinerary, and ended up getting to the airport 4 hours before my flight instead of the 2 hours like I planned. Doh! It shows that even a super-organized - have a solution for every possible problem - person like me can make a mistake. Oh, well. I am now able to check my mail today and read my websites before the flight.

Check-in was a breeze. Mom dropped me off at the door right next to the Business Class check-in line, and nobody was waiting so I was able to go right up to the desk. After some struggle, the counter agent was able to check my bags all the way through to Nanjing on Saturday, although she did say something like "I guess they will tell you in Beijing if you need to pick up your bags there or not." I think I will hang out at the luggage carrousel in Beijing just to make sure my bags are being held for my Air China flight the following morning. The security line was also sparsely populated, so it ended up taking me longer to get my laptop out of the bag and take off my shoes than it did waiting for the person in front of me to finish. After security I hit the store to buy some breakfast bars. I am worried that since my flight Saturday morning is from Beijing to Nanjing, we may get offered "traditional Chinese Breakfast foods," which I have a feeling my stomach will not be up for at that time. After shopping, I headed for the main NWA WorldClub.

It took me about a half hour to finally figure out a location in the club where I could connect to the free Club wireless instead of the $8 airport wireless, but I am now settled in and drinking my Double Latte while blogging and catching up on my email. I have just decided that one of the disadvantages of travelling alone is that I have to pack-up all my stuff when I need to go to the bathroom!

So, I have about another hour of surfing and drinking until my plane will start boarding and my adventure will really begin!
